Visiting with schools

School students are welcome to visit Block 19, Bonegilla Migrant Experience. Students will learn first hand the stories of this place; stories that are fundamental to understanding the migration history of Australia. As a National Heritage site, Bonegilla is a great place to learn about the social and cultural influences that affected Australian life post World War 2.

We offer a choice of guided walks, optional tours and a range of self guided activities and resources to assist with pre-visit learning as well as on-site educational activities. Our programs link with both the NSW and Victorian history syllabuses.

Contact our site coordinator and discuss pre-teaching you may have done so you are able to make the best choices regarding your length of time at the site and the things you will see and do while here. We have many classroom lesson plans and resources, including our Education Passport, which may be obtained for use before or after your visit. We will happily work with you to create a learning experience suited to a specific unit or assignment topic for all primary and secondary classes.
