Walk and talk your way around Bonegilla Migrant Experience

Walk and talk your way around Bonegilla Migrant Experience

A NEWLY developed Bonegilla Block 19 audio tour is now available at the Bonegilla Migrant Experience.

The tour was produced with the assistance journalist Allison Jess from ABC Goulburn-Murray and enhanced with the recording from the Migration Heritage Centre.

The tour was funded and created in-house through partnership between AlburyCity, the City of Wodonga and Parklands Albury-Wodonga as well as the Federal Government’s Jobs Fund and Bonegilla committees.

The tour is available to hire for the cost of $5 and guides visitors through the camp, as well as giving insight and details into the lives and stories of past migrants who passed through the camp.

Many migrants shared their thoughts, feelings and stories of their time at the camp.

This intimate and informative tour allows the site to come to life before your eyes.

Bonegilla audio tours are available onsite from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

Allow half an hour to complete the tour.

Following the relaunch of the Bonegilla Migrant Experience and the new exhibition in September, visitor numbers have continued to increase.

On offer is six open buildings and 12 brand new exhibits displaying the struggles, memories and the good times shared by the 320,000 migrants that passed through, worked, lived and grew up on the camp during its 23 years.

Along with the information on display are cases full of items of the era, evocative displays in rooms, a clay-mation animation, a slide show of the original identification cards, costumes and sound scapes that bring the site to life.
